There are a few main ways the cart can be used to prevent water spillage. One is through transporting wet materials and the other by catching spilled water.

To move wet materials across a space the cart has the ability to roll.

  1. Have the bin with the wet towels placed on top of the cart before papermaking begins
  2. During the first step in preparing the area where the paper dries, roll the cart with the wet towels to the table.
  3. Take a towel from the cart and place it onto the area where the paper dries in accordance with the papermaking process.
  4. Roll the cart back to its original location.

The cart’s wheels also have special characteristics.

  1. The wheels can be locked via the shiny metal switch over the rubber of the wheel. When the cart is not in use or should not be rolling, these locks should stay on.

The cart can also catch spilled water through its grates.

  1. Roll the cart under where water will drip to watch water
  2. Put wet towels on top of the cart to catch water that may drip out.
  3. When emptying the bin the spigot at the front of the bucket is used. To help in the process the wheels on the opposite side of the cart from the spigot can be raised and placed into a listed surface such as a wooden plank. This should be some while the wheels are locked.

The cart can store excess water and filter out paper pulp from liquids.

  1. To do this pour excess water into the bin directly, when a large amount of water is poured over the grates at once it may cause splashing.

The cart has secondary uses not related to preventing the spillage of water.

  1. Using the tap on the side of the bin stored water can be put into other containers
  2. When paper is not being made the cart can be used as a storage space.
